Cooper to play Green Goblin in Spider-Man

(Cover) - EN Movies - Chris Cooper will play the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 61-year-old actor has signed on to play Norman Osborn, the villain’s alter ego who starts out as Spider-Man’s mentor before turning evil.

He is said to be joining a star-studded cast of villains including Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti.

Andrew Garfield reprises his role as the superhero, while Emma Stone again plays his love interest Gwen Stacy.

The movie, directed by Marc Webb, has already begun shooting on location in New York City.

Slated for release in May 2014, the screenplay for the film has been written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner.

The film introduces Shailene Woodley as Peter Parker’s future love interest Mary Jane Watson.

Willem Dafoe famously played the Green Goblin in the original Spider-Man movies.

Chris Cooper will next be seen in comedy drama August: Osage County starring opposite Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Juliette Lewis.
