Cuba Gooding Jr ‘separates from wife’

Cuba Gooding Jr’s wife has reportedly filed for separation.

The 46-year-old Machete Kills actor married his high school sweetheart Sara Kapfer in 1994 and the pair share three children together.

According to TMZ, Sara filed paperwork with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday citing their marriage was over due to “irreconcilable differences”.

Apparently she wants “joint legal and physical custody” of their two minor children and the amount of child support payouts will be determined at a later date.

At press time, Cuba’s representatives have yet to release an official statement addressing the split reports.

Cuba has previously gushed about how much his family means to him.

In 2012 the actor revealed his brood helps him to stay sane when career activities become too much to handle.

“I’m just the chauffeur [to my kids]. I have a [two teenage boys and a little girl],” he told UK TV show Daybreak, before noting his home life keeps him grounded.

“And I’ve been with my wife since high school, I was 19 and she was 17. She hangs in there. When you’ve got a family that you love and they love you, that’s bigger than anything you’ve done.”

In another interview with Kam Williams, Cuba revealed his mother was key in shaping his perspective on the value of family.

“My mom, to do what she's done to hold the family together… She raised me, my brother, Omar, and my sister, with all of us being homeless and having to live in the back of a car for a period of time. So, yeah, my mom's my hero,” he said.
