Daniel Craig can’t imagine being friends with James Bond in real life.
The British actor is currently promoting his latest outing as the suave spy in Spectre, after recently insisting he has no plans to reprise the role again. Daniel would feel rather intimidated by James’ ruthless killing skills if he ever met 007 in real life.
“That would be low down the list,” Daniel smiled when asked during an ITV interview with Jonathan Ross if he would find it difficult to make friends with someone who is so emotionally closed. “The fact that he kills people three times a week (though)!”
While preparing to play the role Daniel has spent his fair share of time with real-life spies. Although he was impressed by their credentials, he was careful not to get too close to the men.
“I’ve been fortunate I suppose to meet quite a few guys from MI6 and they always impress me, they’re very together people, way more together than I could ever hope to be,” he explained. “It’s one of those things - he’s fun at a party but don’t stay too late.”
The 47-year-old star was also pressed to reveal details about the high tech gadgets featured in Spectre. The Bond franchise is renowned for using an array of impressive cars and weaponry, but Daniel was reluctant to give too much away to avoid spoiling any surprises for fans.
“I can’t really reveal anything but needless to say we haven’t shied away from the gimmicks…,” he smiled. “We wanted to embrace it a bit more, traditionally Q has always been older than Bond and we’ve got a brilliant actor in Ben (Whishaw) and we wanted to use him and what he’s about and we’ve got a few things that I think you’ll like.”
Daniel recently caused a stir by resolutely ruling himself out of any future Bond films. His first outing in the iconic role was in 2006 movie Casino Royale, before he appeared in Quantum of Solace in 2008 followed by 2012’s Skyfall. It seems he has no plans to return for a fifth time.
“I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,' he said during an interview with London's Time Out magazine. “We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
