Dave Franco admires Seth Rogen's career.
The American actor, younger brother of The Interview's James, has slowly been making a name for himself in Hollywood.
With three new films currently in production, he doesn't need to rely on his famous sibling to book jobs. However, he is close to James and James' buddy Seth.
“[Seth] has a hand in everything. Acting, directing, producing… and not just in comedy. He’s in the new Steve Jobs movie, too. I have huge respect for how hard he’s working," Dave gushed to Mr Porter.
James and Seth have collaborated numerous times and spearheaded the success of stoner movies with Pineapple Express and This Is the End.
The duo courted controversy with their latest film, The Interview, about a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The flick caused a massive backlash, which included private emails from Sony Pictures being leaked.
"Man, I can’t even… I’m already scared of social media. If Twitter scares me, imagine how I feel about this!" Dave exclaimed. "And the fact that people were joking that this was going to start World War Three… it’s still a crazy thing to even joke about. Wars have been started over dumber sh*t than this. I don’t know what to say. I still don’t.”
In comparison, Dave's movie choices have been a lot tamer, although he also tends to opt for funny flicks.
His latest film Unfinished Business co-stars Vince Vaughn and Tom Wilkinson and tells the story of three businessmen, whose trip to Europe to close an important deal soon goes off the rails.
The actor feels fortunate to work with such big stars, but still finds being on set intimidating.
“Totally! Absolutely. Especially on comedy sets. I’m not a joke-a-minute guy; my strategy is just to play it straight. And I’m surrounded by these people for whom comedy is just in their blood. But when you work with these actors who are so inherently funny, you can’t fail. They’ll turn whatever you say into gold," he smiled modestly.
