Depp won't Google himself

Johnny Depp "immediately regretted" looking himself up online.

The 50-year-old actor is currently engaged to his The Rum Diary co-star Amber Heard. Prior to this he was in a long-term relationship with Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has daughter Lily-Rose and son John.

Being a very private person, Johnny avoids using the internet and spending time with people who are fame-hungry.

"I've Googled my own name and immediately regretted it. God, I really regretted it. I try to stay away from anything about me out there in the world," he admitted to British magazine Look.

"The people who I have always admired have never been driven by ambition. They are driven by hunger or passion and need, but never ambition. Never: 'How famous can I get' That's an accident, like an occupational hazard."

Alongside acting, Johnny is also a keen musician. He has collaborated with various artists over the years, from contributing to an Oasis song to being a member of the band P. When asked what he can't live without, the handsome star listed some of his must-have possessions.

"Normally when I travel and go to a location or whatever, there's always an acoustic guitar, a record player and some vinyl, more than likely old blues [records], and then there's always a typewriter, an old Smith Corona, and that's how I live. A computer is the last thing I need," he explained.

Johnny has openly shunned modern technology and has joked even his kids know to avoid asking his help with computers.

"As far as technology [goes], I'll put it this way, my kids are smart enough not to come to me with any questions about the computer, or even homework for that matter. If it's to do with history or literature or music I'm all right. I'm good. If it's maths, I am down the road," he laughed.
