Television network E! has confirmed Kelly Osbourne is leaving their hit show, Fashion Police.

Gossip has been circulating for months the 30-year-old was ready to exit her post as co-host for the talk show ever since former Fashion Police anchor Joan Rivers suddenly died last September.

And on Friday officials for E! revealed Kelly has indeed chosen to exit the programme.

"Kelly Osbourne is departing E!'s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers," the network wrote in a statement to Us Weekly magazine.

This season, Kelly co-starred on Fashion Police with Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski and Kathy Griffin, who replaced Joan’s as main host in January.

It’s rumoured reality star Khloé Kardashian is in talks to take on Kelly’s former role, but E! has declined to provide confirmation on whether this is true.

"Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Friday, March 30th at 9:00 p.m. and no decisions have been made on her replacement,” network representatives noted in the press release.

Fashion Police has been embroiled in controversy after Giuliana said a snide remark about Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks on the Oscars red carpet last weekend.

“I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed,” the presenter noted.

The insulting statement sparked outrage and on Twitter Tuesday night, Kelly made it clear she did not support Giuliana’s words.

“I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT. I DO NOT CONDONE RACISM SO AS A RSULT OF THIS IM SEREIOULSY QUESTIONONIG STAYING ON THE SHOW (sic),” Kelly tweeted.
