Emma Stone says comedy is her "true love".

The 25-year-old actress has appeared in plenty of funny flicks, including Easy A, Superbad and Friends with Benefits.

She's also part of Woody Allen's upcoming movie, which is currently still untitled. The director is known for his humour and Emma admits features that get laughs are her favourite. She can currently be seen opposite Colin Firth in Woody's latest offering, Magic in the Moonlight.

"Comedy is my true love," she gushed to Total Film. "I doubt there will ever be another genre that can compete with comedy as far as I'm concerned.

"But I've also been lucky to have the opportunity to work in other kinds of films because I'm very interested in exploring different aspects of acting and evolving in my work."

The actress also stars alongside her real-life true love Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. She's been praised for her portrayal of determined female character Gwen Stacy and admits there's a pattern in the roles she chooses.

"I probably gravitate towards those kinds of characters although it's not like I'm specifically looking to play strong women," she considered. "I'm attracted to roles where the female character has her own sense of identity and she's not just the guy's girlfriend, reacting to whatever he does.

"That's why playing Gwen in the Spider-Man films has been so satisfying for me, because she's such a forceful and independent young woman."

Emma is usually pretty quiet about her relationship with 30-year-old Andrew. However, she did recently reveal what makes him special.

"He's obviously one of the greatest actors I think we have alive today, and he's also just a remarkable human being, so I love him very much," she gushed to ABC News.
