Emmy Rossum ‘engaged’

Emmy Rossum is reportedly engaged to marry Sam Esmail.

The 28-year-old Shameless US actress began dating the 37-year-old writer-and-director in 2013 and it’s claimed they have decided to take their romance to the next level.

Sources tell People magazine the couple became engaged over the weekend, but no other details were provided.

Sam is the creator of Mr. Robot, a new technological thriller series airing on USA network.

Emmy has experienced a number of disappointments with romantic relationships in the past.

But it’s claimed her romance with Sam is something truly special.

“Emmy and Sam looked extremely happy in love,” an alleged eyewitness told Page Six of how they interacted with each other at a swanky party. “They stuck close together and looked inseparable.”

Emmy married music executive Justin Siegel in 2008, but they split the following year. She went on to date her Shameless co-star Tyler Jacob Moore, but the pair ended things in 2013.

And although she’s already gone through a divorce, breaking a marital union in the past did not put the star off tying the knot again.

“Honestly, I was so young, I don’t think I knew what marriage meant,” Emmy told the American edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. “My parents were never married, and I was teased in school and called a b*****d. So the idea of marriage as safety forever was idealised in my head, and we rushed into it.”

Emmy met rumoured fiancé Sam while working on the film Comet, which was released last year.
