Jennifer Garner is apparently working to get a plan in place for when her alleged split from Ben Affleck is officially announced.

The pair, who celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary on Monday, have been at the centre of rumours surrounding the end of their relationship for several months.

And amid claims the couple, who have three children together, will be making their break up public any day now, a source close to the 43-year-old actress said she is determined not to come off as the victim when the news is announced.

Instead she is doing her best to get “back into fighting shape” – the shape she was in when she starred as Sydney Bristow in hit television series Alias.

“Jen can really kick some butt,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “She’s a very competent martial arts expert thanks to Alias and she wants one more chance to prove herself in the genre.”

In order to get her career path on track, Jennifer is said to have enlisted the help of her ex Alias trainer Valerie Waters to get her figure back to where she wants it to be.

When it comes to upcoming roles, Jennifer is apparently using her contacts in the industry in an attempt to line up some stellar parts to mark her re-emergence as a single woman.

One such associate is J.J. Abrams, the creator of Alias who has progressed to directing films such as Super 8 and Star Trek.

“JJ will find a part for her, but Jen’s made him promise to not relegate her to ‘girlfriend’ of’ type roles,” the source added. “She was offered Alice Eve‘s part in Star Trek but turned it down for that reason. Jen wants to be the star, not the star’s girlfriend.”
