George Clooney thinks speculation Angelina Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt will become his next door neighbours soon is “probably a rumour”.

The 54-year-old actor and his international law attorney wife Amal have been renovating their countryside home in England for about a year now.

Speculation is rife Angelina and Brad are planning on settling down in a property near George’s, but the Gravity star doesn’t believe the hearsay is accurate.

"The funny thing is the first time I ever heard of that was literally as I was walking in today, somebody said, 'Did you hear that Brad and Angie are moving' and then I was like, 'I don't think that's probably accurate, that's probably a rumour,” he told US TV show Extra.

George tied the knot with 37-year-old Amal in September (14). Just a month later, it was announced the newlyweds had purchased the iconic Mill House, which is located on an island in the River Thames at Sonning Eye in Oxfordshire, England, for around £10 million. And after a year of upgrading the property is nearly ready.

"Almost done. I think we're in a couple of weeks now. I'm really excited,” George gushed about finally moving into his and Amal’s family home.

George recently told the Daily Mail “there is no question in my mind but that my wife is smarter than me”, noting he is absolutely “thrilled” by Amal’s impressive intellect.

And while speaking with Extra he made it clear his thoughts on the matter haven’t altered in the slightest.

"I get to wear the trousers and she gets to be the smart one; that's a fair deal, that's a fair trade… I was asked, you know, 'Is she the smart one in the family' and I don't think anyone would argue with that, do you'" George smiled.
