Richard Gere and Carey Lowell are reportedly in the middle of a bitter divorce battle.

The former couple, who were married for 12 years, split in 2013. According to reports, the pair were initially involved in a dispute over custody of their 15-year-old son Homer. While that aspect of the divorce case is now said to have been resolved, Richard and fellow actor Carey are now believed to be arguing over how to split the actor’s estimated $100 million fortune.

Richard and Carey were both seen at the Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday. Despite the acrimonious nature of their split, the pair seemed on good terms and were reportedly involved in a civil conversation before their case was dealt with.

According to Page Six, the ex couple were seen both reading separate copies of the New York Times, before Carey suggested that Richard should read an interesting piece on “suicide on an Indian reservation in South Dakota”.

The duo and their lawyers – Richard’s from the firm Aronson Mayefsky & Sloan – were then called in to the chambers of Justice Matthew Cooper.

The outlet reports that the pair were in the chambers for around 30 minutes before leaving and heading their separate ways.
It was previously reported that it was Richard and Carey’s difference in lifestyles that led to their split.

Page Six claimed that while Richard prefers to relax and meditate during his time off, Carey is something of a party animal.

“The Buddhist actor craves privacy, and Lowell likes socialising with other bigwigs,” a source told the outlet.

Richard was also married to supermodel Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995. According to Cindy, their 17-year age difference was to blame for the relationship breaking down.
