Dame Helen Mirren is overcome with fright before she performs.
The 67-year-old British actress is lauded for her superb acting skills. She has received an Academy Award in the Best Actress category for her role in 2007 film The Queen.
Helen’s accolades do not curb her performance anxiety.
“I still suffer terribly from stage fright,” she revealed to Woman and Home magazine.
"I get sick with fear. Not every night, but at the beginning and on occasion, not necessarily when I’m expecting it.
“You just have to cope with it, take it on the chin and work through it, trying to use the adrenalin.”
Helen is enjoying a 16-year marriage with American film director Taylor Hackford.
The star relies on Taylor’s support to help her face her fears.
“The one thing that Taylor does always do for me is to send me a bouquet of yellow roses on a first night for good luck,” Helen said.
"When they arrive, I know they’re from him and I love that.”
Helen was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday for her contribution to the entertainment industry.
