Jada Pinkett Smith has found shooting Magic Mike “enlightening”.

The 43-year-old actress is currently in Savannah, Georgia filming scenes for Magic Mike XXL, the follow-up to the hit 2012 stripper movie.

And she logged onto Facebook at the weekend to share how empowering being surrounded by so many supportive women on set has felt.

“The experience has been incredibly enlightening,” she wrote. I have had the pleasure of being in the presence of hundreds of women at once, not actresses, but real women who have been given permission to explore and celebrate their more... primal sexual selves.”

“Rarely do women give themselves permission to experience or even have a real dialogue about the primal sexual energy within them,” she continued, adding that her work environment provided a much needed “safe” place for women to freely express themselves.

“Here, on this set, where it is safe and the women outnumber the men, I have enjoyed watching these women unfold, bask and simply enjoy celebrating the gentleness, slightly dangerous physical power, talent and beauty of these wonderful men. It's been so refreshing to see hundreds of women on top...all at once...without apology;) J.”

Jada confirmed her role in the film in September while appearing on The Queen Latifah Show, sharing that studio executives “really took a chance” on her.

"There was a character written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female,” she explained, adding that she would not be dancing.

“Not one of those [characters]!” she laughed. “I can't really reveal it yet, but I'm excited about it."

Magic Mike XXL, starring Channing Tatum, Amber Heard, Matt Bomer, Elizabeth Banks and Joe Manganiello, is scheduled for release next summer.
