Jada Pinkett Smith has shared some of her latest artwork.

The 43-year-old actress is a little-known painter. And she took a moment Saturday to share a few of her new abstract creations, featuring colours splashed across canvas and her tools scattered around.

The Gotham star also revealed music largely serves as her inspiration.

“Every painting I attempt to paint has a soundtrack,” she wrote, explaining: “These were painted to Fink's album Hard Believer and Cree Summer's Street Faërie.”

It’s important for Jada to remain creative in multiple aspects of life. And she encouraged others to do the same.

“Create,create,create;) J,” she wrote.

It’s not the first time Jada has shared her artwork. Back in May she posted a photo of herself painting a large canvas and wrote about the joy it brings her.

“Nothing like spending a day with my paint in my studio:),” she wrote.

Jada’s recent post follows just days after she admitted she has been in “deep reflection”.

In another Facebook message last week, the star ruminated on acts of violence, sharing that she felt “helpless”.

Sharing an image of herself alongside late rapper Tupac and a friend, Maxine: she wrote: “In this picture I'm flanked by two extremely close friends of mine... They both died tragically not too far apart from one another.

“I flipped through more pictures of my youth only to come across at least 6 other friends who had been taken from this world...violently.

“I’m grateful for what I have survived,” she continued in part. “…But, I also feel helpless, a bit depressed that there are so many of us who still do. And it feels like it's only gotten and getting worse (sic).”
