Jake Gyllenhaal has birthday workout

Jake Gyllenhaal celebrated his birthday by building up a sweat in the gym this week.

The actor turned 31 on Monday but opted to have a low-key day.

He spent the special occasion working on his trim physique by attending the SoulCycle spinning class in New York City’s Union Square.

Later on he went out to dinner at Peter Luger in Brooklyn with a small group of friends, according to New York Post.

Fellow actor Oliver Platt, who starred with Jake in Love and Other Drugs, and the birthday boy’s sister Maggie were part of the gang at the steakhouse.

The Brokeback Mountain star decided to relax for his party and dressed casually.

He spent some time at the bar before he blew out the candles on his cake, which his mother Naomi Foner had made and brought to the restaurant.

Jake’s latest movie projects include Nailed alongside Jessica Biel and End of Watch with Anna Kendrick.

Although he is currently believed to be single the actor has been linked to a bevy of beauties in the past. He has previously dated Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon and country music singer Taylor Swift.
