Jason Schwartzman knew he had to take his latest movie when the script made him laugh nonstop.

The 34-year-old actor stars alongside Taylor Schilling, Adam Scott and Judith Godrèche in The Overnight, in which he plays Kurt. The character and his partner befriend a new couple in town, but things take a strange twist when they go over for dinner.

"For sure it was a page turner. I loved it so much. Your experience watching it was my experience reading it. I'm reading it going like, 'I think I know what's gonna... oh no, didn't happen. Oh wait!' It constantly is like serpentining between a surprising moment and a gratifying moment," Jason told heyuguys.com. "A lot of scripts you can kind of figure out what's going on quickly... reading it can be more obvious, and [with] this everything was a surprise to me. It's hard to laugh out loud when you're reading something, it's got to be really funny and I was laughing nonstop. It was a no-brainer."

The Overnight is a sex comedy, with a playdate for children quickly turning into something racier when the kids are in bed.

It was shot very quickly, over 12 days, and the actors didn't know they were involved until just before the cameras started rolling. That astounds Jason when he considers it, because it's just this kind of movie that many would think required a strong bond between the cast.

"Honestly, there wasn't a lot of time. From when I read the script to when we started shooting was a matter of days, if not hours," he explained. "It was a very short amount of time. We didn't have a lot of time as a cast to get to know each other. It's a very intimate movie and a lot of the characters are saying and doing some pretty revealing things. Of all movies you'd think this one would have the most time for the cast to get to know each other before we all go in there together..."
