Jenna Dewan Tatum always knew she would find success as an actress and dancer.

The 34-year-old star first made a name for herself showcasing her moves in 2006 movie Step Up, where she met her now husband Channing Tatum.

Since then, she has starred in television series including Witches of East End and the upcoming Supergirl, in which she appears as Lucy Lane.

However, Jenna has opened up about her start in the industry, admitting she was originally told she would have to choose a profession to pursue.

"I just kept saying all the time, 'I can be both! I can be both! That's me. I’m both of those things, and I shouldn’t have to [choose]!'" Jenna told Glamour.com of being warned she couldn’t be an actor and a dancer.

“Now I get wonderful opportunities where I actually get to do both."

Jenna has achieved happiness in both her professional and personal lives. She is mother to two-year-old daughter Everly with Channing and the pair seem happier than ever.

She has showed off her incredible moves as she performed on the finale of US TV talent show So You Think You Can Dance last month (September 15) with competitor Travis Wall.

Speaking about her involvement in the programme, Jenna said she was thrilled to be given the opportunity to dance on the show.

“I can tell you, from being a dancer in this business, I can tell you before SYTYCD and after SYTYCD,” Jenna told Entertainment Weekly magazine at the time. “It has really changed the game for dancers in every single way. It has really put them on a platform and it’s given them crazy, wide careers.”

“What SYTYCD has done for dance is incredible. When the show asked me to perform with the incredibly talented Travis Wall, I was so honoured and excited to get back into my dancing shoes.”
