Jennifer Ehle feels a great deal of "creative excitement" at the moment.

The 45-year-old actress has had a busy schedule as of late; she's starring in upcoming movie Spooks: The Greater Good and has The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving alongside Paul Rudd and Selena Gomez in the pipeline.

With several big movies under her belt from over the past few years, Jennifer has finally reached a place of enthusiasm within her career.

“For the first time in a while I’ve been very interested in what’s going to happen next. I didn’t have that feeling of creative excitement before," she smiled to scotsman.com. "Amazing things have happened – doing Contagion with Steven Soderbergh and Zero Dark Thirty with Kathryn Bigelow, being a part of Spooks. I’ve had amazing things happen but I feel now an excitement looking forward that I haven’t felt for a while. I think we’re ready as a family for me to step away a little more and explore that.”

The American star has had a slow and steady stream of work over the last decade, raising son George, 12, and six-year-old daughter Talulah with husband Michael Ryan at the same time.

She may have made a name for herself on the big screen now but it was her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in 1995 British TV miniseries Pride and Prejudice opposite Colin Firth which really saw her rise to prominence.

“I mean my goodness what a wonderful person to get lumbered with. I can’t think of any character from literature I’d rather have people associate me with. I don’t have any weariness about that at all. I’m very grateful," Jennifer gushed.

“I’ve had people tell me that they’ve been really sick and that’s what gave them pleasure. It’s wonderful. How great to be a part of something that people find comforting. It’s nice.”

Spooks: The Greater Good hits cinemas in the UK on May 8.
