Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner are campaigning for an end to child hunger.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars portray superheroes in the forthcoming Marvel flick. And they have now put their star power to good use by starring in public service announcements for charity Feeding America, an organisation committed to ending hunger.

"My family grew up relying on public assistance to help provide meals for our family," Scarlett told People magazine. "Child hunger in America is a real and often overlooked problem, but one that together, we can fix. It is my hope that by joining with Feeding America, our awareness of this issue will lead to a solution."

The stars’ commercials are about 30 seconds in length and they both addresses key issues in the fight to keep Americans well-fed.

They noted in the promos that billions of pounds of food gets wasted every year.

Scarlett is mother to seven-month-old daughter Rose Dorothy and Jeremy is father to two-year-old daughter Ava.
And he can’t bare to see any child starve.

"As an American, it's hard to hear that we have a serious hunger problem in America," Jeremy said in the PSA, which is part of the Ad Council’s Hunger Prevention campaign. "And as a parent, it's even harder to hear that one in five kids struggles with hunger."

Feeding America is the leading hunger-relief charity in the United States, as it provides meals to over 46 million people via 60,000 food pantries and other programmes in the country.
