Josh Duhamel has assured Dax Shepard he's "tough" enough for Battle Creek.

The US actor stars alongside Dean Winters in the TV show about two very different detectives who team up to fight crime.
While they work well as a duo, there's one more man keen to get in on the action.

"@joshduhamel @thedeanwinters I know I'm not handsome enough, but aren't I tough enough to join you guys' (sic)," Dax pleaded on Twitter.

Josh was quick respond: "Daxel you're plenty tough. Always welcome brother. (sic)"

Battle Creek is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday. While Josh has been busy promoting the show on Twitter, Dean isn't quite as prolific on the social networking site. Josh, 42, sees it as a "necessary evil", while his co-star admits he gets people yelling at him on the street to use the platform more.

A show about two cops might not seem groundbreaking, but Josh thinks they are really onto something with this new offering.

“They took something that I feel like we’ve seen for years, a successful formula - two guys out fighting crime - but this felt like it was a little bit more tongue-in-cheek than what I had seen,” he explained to Global News recently.

“It was more about the characters and the total difference in these two guys. It was as much about the humour as it was about solving crime.”

Josh is also excited about being back on TV after stints in movies such as Safe Haven and Don Peyote, adding that a series feels more like a job because it's ongoing work.
