Josh Gad has laughed off being confused for Jack Black all the time.

The 34-year-old comedian shot to stardom after portraying the voice of Olaf in Frozen and making appearances in critically acclaimed TV shows like Modern Family.

And now when he’s out in public, Josh is often confused with The D Train star Jack.

"A guy comes up and goes, 'Hey! My son thinks you're Black Jack,' " Josh recalled to People magazine. "I said, 'The card game?' He goes, 'No, no, no, the actor.'

"So not only are you calling me Jack Black, but you don't even have the courtesy to correctly name me after another dark-haired, overweight actor? That's really nice.' "

But Josh has learned not to take these awkward fame moments personally.

The actor, who is currently promoting his new comedy Pixels, chooses to embrace a sense of humour about these kinds of situations.

"I should have [gone with it] but I didn't," Josh laughed. "Suppose I was being Punk'd or something and I readily admit to being Jack Black, then I wind up looking like a tool for the rest of my life."

Josh has previously spoken about how shocked he is that Frozen fans recognise his face.

The thespian simply can’t believe the picture, which quickly became the highest-grossing film of the year and the most successful Disney movie to date, became so popular.

"Frozen. People stop me on the street for an animated character, where they don't even see my face, on a daily basis," he told British newspaper Metro.

"No [I didn't expect Frozen to be so huge], it's crazy. It's two years later and it's still as popular. All of us - Idina [Menzel], Kristen [Bell], Jonathan [Groff], myself - we all pinch ourselves every day that we were a part of it."
