Julianne Hough felt destined to star in the Footloose remake because she has so many connections to the film.

The star plays Ariel Moore, a small-town girl who falls for newcomer Ren McCormack. Julianne is a big fan of the original movie and feels she was fated to land a role in the remake.

"There are so many Footloose connections to me, it's not even funny,

“One, I grew up in Utah, and I used to pass the roller mills where Ren did the first angry dance every day on my way to the dance studio,” she told ET. “Two, my brother was Ren on the West End, in London. Three, I remember calling my mom after my audition and Footloose was playing on the radio. Four, on Dancing with the Stars my first dance with Apollo Ohno was Let’s Hear it for the Boy. So all these different Footloose things happened. So I was like, ‘If all these things have happened, it has to come to fruition.’ So it’s cool.”

Kenny Wormald plays Ren in the movie.

City boy Ren rebels against a local law that bans dancing and rock music. He must challenge Ariel's father, Reverend Shaw Moore - played by Dennis Quaid - to breathe life back into the uptight community.

Kenny is still getting to grips with landing such a high-profile role, admitting his career success hasn’t sunk in yet.

"Everyone's like, 'Are you ready for your life to change'" he explained. "I just kind of going through the motions and I'm enjoying every moment of it.

“It was great to have friends on set, you know, me and Julianne became friends and me and Miles Teller are like best buds. We called it summer camp because it was just a bunch of us having fun the whole time. A lot of the fun happened off set as well. To get to shoot with friends was a blast.”

Julianne, 23, also went on to speak about her relationship with Ryan Seacrest.

The pair have been dating for over a year and Julianne says the TV-and-radio host is incredibly considerate.

"The best thing about Ryan is... all those great extravagant things are wonderful, but it’s his thoughtfulness," she smiled. "He is the most thoughtful person I've ever met."
