Julie Bowen is "so sad" Sofía Vergara is going through a legal battle with her ex.

Last week In Touch reported that the Modern Family star's ex-fiancé Nick Loeb had filed paper that claimed Sofía wanted to destroy frozen embryos made from his sperm and her eggs in November 2013.

Her lawyer strongly opposed the claims, at the weekend insisting the 42-year-old is pushing for no such thing.

Now her Modern Family co-star Julie has offered her support.

"She is one of the kindest, best people I know. I am so sad that on the eve of all of her great happiness that had to happen, but at the same time, I know that she will be perfectly fine. She is a wonderful person. She's such a good person," she gushed to New York Daily News.

Sofía has now moved on with Joe Manganiello, who she got engaged to in December last year. Julie, 45, admitted the Colombian actress is "amazed" and added that she's relieved Sofía is now with such a "great guy".

"Am I shocked? Yeah of course! Who isn't?" Julie balked. "It's shocking. These are adults. These are all adults. Why is one acting so badly?"

Sofía's lawyer Fred Silberberg released a statement at the weekend, which discredited all of Nick's claims about the star.

“The claims made against Sofia Vergara by Nick Loeb are uncredible and hold no merit. Vergara has never wanted to destroy her embryos,” he told Extra.

”Vergara has never suggested that she wished to have the embryos destroyed. She has always maintained that they be kept frozen, a fact of which Loeb and his counsel have always been aware, despite Loeb's statements to the contrary.

“Vergara, who has happily moved on with her life, is content to leave the embryos frozen indefinitely as she has no desire to have children with her ex, which should be understandable given the circumstances.”
