Katie Holmes refuses to regret anything in her life, instead choosing to learn from what she's been through.

The 36-year-old actress found herself at the centre of a great deal of scrutiny when her marriage to Tom Cruise fell apart after five years in 2012. The pair settled their divorce in less than a fortnight, with Katie getting custody of their daughter Suri, who is now nine. It seems she has now completely moved on from her former union, with the star revealing there is nothing in her life that she laments when she thinks about it.

"I don’t really regret anything that I’ve done," she told Ocean Drive magazine. "I’ve learnt from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going.”

Part of the reason Katie is so accepting about life is because she's proud of the career choices she's made. She's appeared in movies, on Broadway and recently made a return to TV with a part in series Ray Donovan, and she's excited to be able to morph into many different people.

"I don’t shy away from risks,” she explained. “I’m just interested in a lot of different things. I don’t even think of it as a risk; I think of it as something exciting and new. As I’ve grown up, I think that the harder you work the more successful you are. From what I have seen, the people at the top, they’re just constantly working and constantly surrounding themselves with other successful, like-minded creative people.”

One of those Katie is referring to could be Beyoncé, with the actress recently calling the singer "inspiring" because of how hard she works.

As impressive as this work ethic is to Katie, she wants a good balance in her life. Being with Suri will always be the most important thing to her, and she remains astounded by how much being a parent has altered her.

"It changes you completely in such amazing ways, and I think that you become who you were meant to be," she said. "Being a parent also is a source of inspiration to just work really hard. You want to set an example - and, you know, your kids are what drives you.”
