Lily Collins loves awkward rom-coms

Lily Collins is a big fan of the classic rom-com.

The 25-year-old has made a name for herself in films such as The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Mirror Mirror, and has four new productions in the pipeline.

While the raven-haired actress often stars in movies that have more of an adventurous edge, there's nothing she likes better than settling down in front of a chick flick.

"Love Actually, Notting Hill, The Holiday – those sorts of films are my favourites," Lily reeled off to ASOS magazine. "It’s those awkward moments when you find yourself laughing."

One of her new movies is Love, Rosie, co-starring Sam Claflin, Jaime Winstone and Suki Waterhouse.

The role of teen mom Rosie Dunne meant Lily got to dip her toes into the romance genre, and also required her to brush up on a British accent.

"Films that don’t take themselves too seriously – I just fell in love with this one. It’s not like the portrayal of a teen mom you see in reality TV shows, it’s not about a girl on a downward spiral; it’s about how she embraces what has happened and grows. She doesn’t become a victim," she smiled.

Lily became close to her co-stars when the cast and crew filmed in Ireland and Canada.

The flick is due out later this year, and Lily has fond memories from production.

"It was a love fest right away. Sam is awesome and Jaime has such electric energy, she lights up a room when she walks in," she gushed.

"And Suki is so hilarious, such a character – we text all the time, 'cause she’s in LA a lot. She just jumped right in and was game for anything. We would shoot, then all go to watch a football match at a pub and then go out dancing. We’d have three hours of sleep and then work the next day."
