Liza Minnelli felt like she was “always” on movie sets when she was younger.

The 65-year-old actress-and-singer is the daughter of Hollywood film director Vincente Minnelli and legendary actress Judy Garland.

Liza’s earliest memories were on a movie set.

“Oh! It seemed like I was always there. It was where I would go when I finished school,” she told the UK edition of OK! magazine.

“The hairstylist for MGM was like my uncle – I mean every kid in Hollywood called everyone aunt or uncle. I would get on my bike. Everybody had a bike on set. I had one with my name on it that the studio gave me. So I would cycle around and watch them build sets and make costumes and go to the hair department.”

Liza befriended some big names in Hollywood because of her lifestyle. One of those names was legendary screen icon Marilyn Monroe, who Liza says was very sweet.

“She befriended me! I didn’t know her that well. She used to come to some of the dinner parties we had at home and I’d met her a couple of times, then one evening when she came for dinner she came up and said, ‘I just wanted to know if you were awake,’” she explained.

“We sat and talked for about an hour. She was really nice and sweet and interested and I think probably a little shy.”
