Eva Longoria is reportedly negotiating a role in forthcoming car drama Low Riders.

The former Desperate Housewives star and actress Lily Collins are both in talks to join Demian Bichir in the forthcoming film, according to Deadline.

The feature, directed by Ricardo de Montreiul, takes place in East Los Angeles, where lowrider cars and graffiti are part of the local landscape.

Josh Bierne-Gordon and Justin Tipping are credited with writing the script, with earlier drafts penned by Cheo Hodari Coker and Elgin James, the outlet reports.

Eva and Demian are currently working together on his directorial debut, a romantic drama called Refugio.

The actress rose to fame as Gabrielle Solis on hit US TV series Desperate Housewives. Despite her love for the character, she has said in the past she has no plans to reprise the role anytime soon.

"I think Marc [Cherry, creator] is super busy and successful with Devious Maids," she revealed to E! News earlier this year. "We fully explored the range of each character and Marc always says that there's really not much more to tell. But I love the girls and I miss playing Gaby," she admitted.

The actress has also been focused on politics as of late. She launched a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year to make her own documentary about the importance of Latinos in America and their influence on the political landscape.

"We wanted to do the Kickstarter campaign in the same vein of a democratic process…We're trying to show Latinos, you matter, you count," she told the outlet during its launch. "[Latinos] made such a difference in getting [US President] Obama elected in 2012 yet we still have one of the lowest turnouts among all ethnicities and we still have the lowest turnout in midterm elections so that fact that you can be energised to turn out for a presidential election but not motivated enough to elect the people you have to work with, I think that's a problem."
