The actress voices the character of Viper in Kung Fu Panda 2, which is released in the US later this month. Although she admits work on such pictures can be tough because contact with the other stars is minimal, she still enjoys it because it seems much more relaxed than being on an actual film set.

“I think working on an animated series, anything that’s voiceover is always challenging because you don’t get to work with the other actors, but there is something wonderful and very free about working on your own schedule in whatever city you are in,” she explained. “It makes your life a lot easier, it’s a simpler schedule.”

The film is a sequel to 2008’s Kung Fu Panda, and sees Angelina Jolie and Jack Black back to lend their vocals to Tigress and Po respectively.

Lucy was never in any doubt the first release would be a success, especially as she tends to know when a movie will be panned by critics.

“No [I wasn’t surprised], because I really thought when I watched the movie I connected to it and loved it so much I couldn’t imagine that anyone else wouldn’t feel the same way,” she told Collider. “Sometimes I watch a movie and I think, ‘Oh my God, what happened'’ And that’s not the case with this movie.”
