Melissa Rivers supposedly believes her mother Joan’s health is on a “positive trajectory”.
The 46-year-old daughter of the iconic comedienne travelled to her mum’s bedside almost immediately after 81-year-old Joan was admitted to hospital in critical condition last week.
It’s been claimed doctors are attempting to lift the Fashion Police host from a medically induced coma and Melissa is said to be convinced her mother will pull through.
"There is only one outlook Melissa is looking at now -- She's like, 'When my mother wakes up…,' 'When my mother see this and that …' There is only one trajectory she sees this going in the direction of, which is positive," a source told ET Online. "She refuses to acknowledge any other outcome than Joan coming out of this.”
Joan was hospitalised last Thursday after she purportedly stopped breathing while undergoing a throat procedure at a New York City clinic. On Tuesday September 2 Melissa confirmed in a statement her mother was on life support.
The New York Daily News reported doctors are to assess the amount of brain damage Joan may have suffered after she wakes from the medically induced coma.
And according to ET, the octogenarian’s loved ones are trying to assess what might happen if she wakes up in a vegetative state.
“[Melissa] knows how Joan would want it,” an insider revealed, seemingly referring to how Joan would want to die in this type of situation.
"We won't be having this conversation a week from now. If this is the decision to be made, the decision will be made swiftly, but not easily.”
It is rumoured Melissa is considering bringing a lawsuit again the clinic that conducted Joan’s throat procedure.
But apparently this hearsay has no merit.
“Melissa is in no condition to think about a lawsuit," the source said. "Melissa is not talking about that.”
In her latest update, Melissa told The Wrap she and loved ones are “extremely grateful” for the support Joan has received in the wake of her health tragedy.
