Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are “barely talking”, according to reports.

The couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Esmeralda, back in September. But it has now been alleged that the Beyond the Pines co-stars are under significant strain.

“It's more than just run-of-the-mill stress that comes with having a newborn. They're barely talking,” an insider told the American edition of OK! Magazine. “Eva has pushed him away.”

It is believed the tension has arisen between the pair since Ryan headed to Georgia for extended periods of time to film The Nice Guys. Meanwhile his 40-year-old girlfriend is back home in Los Angeles with their daughter after reportedly refusing to travel to the set to be nearer her beau.

“So instead of coming home every night to them, he's jetting back and forth just so he can see his daughter,” the source continued.

However Eva and the 34-year-old actor have been dogged by break-up rumours throughout their relationship, even before Esmeralda came along. And the new reports seem at odds with how the Hitch actress described their home life in a recent interview with The Violet Files.

“Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it’s unfair, but that’s our reality,” she explained. “Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could. And my pregnancy was the first opportunity to give her that.”

She also opened up about how the couple were completely in sync when it came to choosing their offspring’s unusual name.

“Ryan and I both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we just think it’s a beautiful name,” she revealed. “Amada was my grandmother’s name. It means ‘beloved’ in Spanish.”

A representative for the couple is yet to comment on the new allegations, according to MailOnline.
