Mindy Kaling is happy she has dropped her “boy crazy” mentality.

The 35-year-old comedienne is the mastermind behind her hit TV show The Mindy Project, which debuted in 2012.

She also serves as executive producer on the sitcom and Mindy finds single life rewarding now that her life is so busy with work.

“In my 20s, I was not only boy crazy, but marriage and relationship crazy,” she explained in the October edition of Flare magazine. “Now it’s almost the opposite. My work is so rewarding and I’m so self-centred about it that I’m kind of excited about not having to go home and ask someone about their day.”

Although the star feels fulfilled professionally, Mindy admits she is starting to hear her biological clock ticking.

And the star feels under pressure to start making babies very soon now that she has reached her mid-thirties.

“This has been the first year I realised that if I want to have three kids, I need to get going,” Mindy shared.

The actress portrays an OB/GYN doctor in The Mindy Project.

But she refuses to address abortion on the show.

“It would be demeaning to the topic to talk about it in a half-hour sitcom,” Mindy declared.

Although the star has received numerous accolades for her work in the past, including a SAG Award and Primetime Emmy nomination, Mindy says she isn’t immune to prejudice in Hollywood.

The funnywoman is convinced sexism is subtlety present in the entertainment industry.

“Of course I’m riddled with doubts like every other creative, neurotic person, but if you don’t display them all the time, you’re seen as overconfident. I’ve worked in television for 10 years straight. If I were a man, it wouldn’t be considered strange [to have confidence] at all,” Mindy said.
