Variety reports the highly lauded trio of actors are confirmed to join director David Cronenberg’s thriller.

Maps to the Stars is based on a screenplay by Bruce Wagner and has been in development since 2006. The film centres on Hollywood’s destructive celebrity obsession. Maps to the Stars has been described as extreme, focusing on how the depravity inherent in pernicious elements of Los Angeles culture destroyed the lives of two young actors.

Entertainment One Films is co-financing the project with Martin Katz’s Prospero Pictures.

Martin will produce with SBS Productions and Alfred Hurmer of Integral Films.

Maps to the Stars will be pitched at Cannes Film Festival in May by eOne Films and the company will also be in charge of worldwide sales and distribution.

Maps to the Stars will begin filming in Los Angeles and Toronto in July.

Producer Martin, director David and actor Robert previously worked together on 2012 release Cosmopolis. The drama, which is based on a book by author Don DeLillo, centres on a 28-year-old billionaire descending into an odyssey of strange and illicit encounters during a limousine ride through New York.
