(Cover) - EN Movies - Nicolas Cage is “amused” by his worst actor nominations at The Razzie Awards.

The Ghost Rider star has been in the running for the award three times at the annual ceremony which recognises the worst in film. In 2006 he was nominated for his role in The Wicker Man, and again in 2007 for Ghost Rider, Next and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Most recently he was up for a 2011 award for his portrayal in Drive Angry, Season of the Witch and Trespass.

However, Nicolas shrugs off the criticism.

“I’m just amused by that,” he told German TV station Tele 5.

“I don’t take praise or criticism especially seriously. I at least try not to get influenced by that because if I did I wouldn’t be honest with myself anymore. I need to stick to what interests me.”

He is yet to receive a Razzie award. He has, however, won awards praising his work including a best actor Oscar in 1996 for his role in Leaving Las Vegas.

“To be honest I don’t keep any awards in my house,” he said.

“I don’t even know if I actually really won a Razzie at one point but if I would I surely would choose an interesting place for it.”

Nicolas doesn’t care for awards – Razzie or otherwise. He is only interested in taking roles that challenge his abilities.

“I’ve never appeared in a movie to get an award for it. That would be the wrong approach,” he said.

“I am interested in movies that can surprise me even after ten or 20 years. There are so many Oscar movies which nobody talks about five years later. Movies have to stimulate me therefore I can’t take into account what critics say. And when I am criticised by them I think that I did something right anyway.”
