Nina Dobrev: I auditioned online

(Cover) - EN Movies - Nina Dobrev auditioned for her latest movie role over Skype.

The Vampire Diaries star plays abused teenager Candace in Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The 23-year-old actress had to take unusual measures to secure her role in the film.

“I had to fight for it,” Nina explained to Collider.

“I was in Atlanta shooting The Vampire Diaries and I couldn’t make it to LA so I begged to get a Skype interview with the director. We kept getting interrupted. They kept calling me onto set and I’m like, ‘One second, tell them I’m in the bathroom!’ And then I had to do the scenes. And I’m really happy that I did because I’m so proud to be in this movie, even in the small capacity that I am.”

Nina stars alongside Emma Watson in the story about teenage angst and touching relationships.

The cast received a standing ovation at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month – and the young actress is just as taken by the movie.

“I read a lot of scripts and I’m really, really picky, but this one was really beautiful,” she revealed. “When I finished reading it I was left with this feeling, and I can’t really describe it. The only way to express [the emotion is that it is] what I imagine people will feel when they watch the movie.”
