Noah Wyle welcomes daughter

Noah Wyle and his wife have welcomed a baby girl.

The Falling Skies actor met Sara Wells in 2011 and they married last year, announcing they were expecting their first child in February.

Now his rep has confirmed to People magazine that their bundle of joy has been named Frances Harper and was born on Monday, June 22.

Sara and their little girl are doing well and the actor exclaims he's "over the moon".

Former ER star Noah, 44, has been married once before, to make-up artists Tracy Warbin. The former couple, who split in 2010, have 12-year-old son Owen and daughter Auden, nine, together.

Noah has explored the topic of fatherhood on show Falling Skies, where he plays former professor Tom Mason. It caused him to reflect on parenthood and the relationships mothers and fathers have with their children.

"Paternal dynamics are paternal dynamics," he previously told The Cinema Source. "And at a certain point, everybody has to figure out when to back off and when you want to insert themselves as parents, when you want to let your kids make the mistakes they inevitably have to make in order to be the people that they are destined to be and when you want to step in and help guide that process and I don't think that ever goes away. My mother still grapples with that issue in my life and it's just playing it out per episode, per scene, per circumstance."
