Orange is the New Black was a hit at the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Netflix series, which centres on female prison inmates, took home two trophies at the ceremony held Sunday night in Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium.

The entire Orange is the New Black cast was awarded with the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series gong.

Uzo Aduba, who portrays Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren in the show, won the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

And she delivered a tearful speech while receiving her award onstage.

"Oh my god. I really, truly do not know what to say,” Uzo told the star-studded crowd while choking back tears of joy. “I want to say a huge, massive thanks to our cast, without whom this is not possible. I love you guys so desperately, so much. This is not done without you at all, any step of the way. I wanna thank my friends. I wanna thank my family and just finally I really, really, truly wanna say that the day I got this job was the day I had stopped acting, and to be in a room with all you amazing human beings, amazing talents, for what I love and respect so much, is really, truly the greatest honour. Thank you so very much. God bless you."

The SAG Awards opened with a touching, traditional segment entitled Actor’s Stories. During this portion of the programme, cameras tour around the A-list crowd and several actors share about what made them want to take on acting for a living, ending with the line “I am an actor”.

And Jennifer Aniston made folks giggle with her account.

“When I was a little girl growing up in New York City, all I ever wanted to be was Scarlett O’Hara,” Jennifer recalled during her speech. “Oh well. I’m Jennifer Aniston and I’m an actor.”

Many critics pointed out The Hangover funnyman Zach Galifianakis looked noticeably thinner while delivering his Actor’s Stories speech, which consisted of these few hilarious words: “I’m Zach Galifianakis. I’m an actor.”

Debbie Reynolds, 82, received the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award on the night. She was presented with the prestigious honour by her daughter, Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher.
