Rachel McAdams was in awe of Lindsay Lohan when they worked together on Mean Girls.

The cult teen film, which celebrated its tenth anniversary earlier this year, was just one of the many hit movies Lindsay made during the early noughties and told the story of a high school girl trying to get in with the popular crowd.

Rachel took on the role of queen bee Regina George, and laughs off suggestions she intimidated Lindsay on set.

"If anything, I was in awe of her talent,” Rachel admitted to Allure magazine. “I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural. It’s just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we’ve got it together.”

Another co-star to leave a lasting impression on the 35-year-old star was the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. The pair worked together on A Most Wanted Man which is released later this week in the United States, before being rolled out worldwide.

"I learned so much from him. He really takes you under - he really took me under his wing,” she recalled. "You feel very taken care of, but at the same time there’s an element of danger: there’s a crackle in every scene. He makes sure the stakes are very high, and there’s a safety there, too."

A Most Wanted Man was one of the last films 46-year-old Philip made before his death in February this year of an accidental drug overdose.

“He had so much natural, raw talent, but he worked so hard, too. He really worked for it and didn’t let up. I’m sure that wasn’t easy," Rachel added.
