Robert Downey Jr. insists having all his furniture shipped to Atlanta while he shot Captain America: Civil War wasn't extravagant - he just wanted his cats to be happy.
The 50-year-old actor reprises his role as superhero Tony Stark/Iron Man in the upcoming Marvel movie, which also stars Chris Evans in the title role. It was shot in Atlanta and as he prepared for filming Robert realised he'd like a few of his creature comforts around him, resulting in him moving the entire contents of his home to the city for the duration.
"I didn't do a thing, the moving company did," he told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. "Here's the deal, lest I be thought of as some self-involved, snarky, 'he's got it all' thing: you're away from home for a long time and we bring the cats and the kids and the cats like this chair, that's where they nap, so let's bring the chair. We thought, as a matter of fact, let's bring the house.
"I'm not that eccentric and I'm not paying for it so it's not like I'm being extravagant... thank you Disney. I'm not going to do it next time.."
Chris had his own issues with the shoot, mostly that it took place in July so it was extremely hot in Atlanta. Fans of the superhero franchise will recall the star is called on to don a skin-tight suit for the role, which made the myriad action sequences incredibly sweaty - so much so Chris has christened the US city "Hotlanta".
"It was beautiful, I don't know what you are talking about," Robert said to Chris following this revelation. "I was either in a lovely sprawling rented home or an air-conditioned helicopter. I mean I did see you on the tarmac doing action for six months but you see once the helmet (of my Iron Man costume) closes, I'm not there. You should have thought of that."
Chris and Robert unveiled the official poster and trailer for the movie during their appearance on the show.
