Sandra Bullock's "dream come true" would apparently be making a guest appearance on Downton Abbey.

The US actress is the latest in a long line of stars who love the British period drama, with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West also said to be fans.

Sandra is so enamored with the show it's been claimed she is even considering a brief stint in the UK.

"She loves the idea of spending time over there, enrolling her son Louis in a school and maybe doing a bit of work in London. Who knows, she may even be asked to make a guest appearance in Downton. That would be her dream come true," a source told British magazine Heat.

Sandra starred alongside George Clooney in last year's hit movie Gravity, which won her a best actress Oscar nomination. George also appeared alongside Downton's Hugh Bonneville in The Monuments Men, which apparently thrilled Sandra.

"The show is Sandy's guilty pleasure - she's watched every episode," the insider said.

"She kept getting George to ask Hugh for Downton gossip. In the end, he just put Hugh on the phone and got him to speak to Sandra directly. I think she was a bit star struck."

Although George was happy to help his friend out, he's unlikely to take a part in the show himself. While promoting The Monuments Men he spoke about the program, admitting he couldn't see himself strapping on a bow tie for the series.

"We all love that show, it’s huge," he said. "I am too lowly for a part, I don’t think they want me. I can’t do the accent either. It’s all very Dick Van Dyke."
