Scarlett Johansson says her daughter's smell leaves her euphoric.

The actress and her fiancé Romain Dauriac welcomed their first child, a little girl named Rose Dorothy, in September.

She's already taken to motherhood extremely well and is surprised by the things that have affected her.

"She smells so sweet," the 30-year-old enthused to German magazine Gala. "I can't describe it any better than that, but it leaves me euphoric."

Of course parenthood doesn't come without its challenges. But luckily Scarlett is managing to adapt and appreciate the times she can relax.

"It's exhausting, in an amazing way," she smiled. "I never realised how much I would appreciate sleeping through the whole night. You have to get used to these things..."

Despite Rose now being in her life, there is no sign of Scarlett slowing down her acting work. She'll appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year and also has movies The Jungle Book, Hail, Caesar! and Ghost in the Shell in the pipeline.

Earlier this month, the star made her first post-baby appearance at a screening of The Theory of Everything, where she posed with the movie's lead Eddie Redmayne. She also joined her twin brother Hunter at the Champions Of Rockaway 2nd Annual Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser last week.

Scarlett has made no secret of wanting to be a mum and career woman.

"It seems so stressful to not be able to spend time with your family because you're constantly chasing the tail of your own success," she previously told Wall Street Journal magazine. "There must exist a world in which I can balance those things, be able to raise a family and still make a film a year, or work on my own, develop things, do theatre. I want to be able to have it all. [Laughs] Selfishly."
