Schwarzenegger talks ‘fun and embarrassing nudity’

Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks getting nude for Terminator Genisys was “fun and embarrassing”.

The 67-year-old actor has reprised his classic role as a lethal cyborg from the future named Guardian in the new sci-fi flick, which sees Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke portray the iconic role of Sarah Connor.

While travelling through time in Terminator Genisys journeyers are in their birthday suits and Arnold has shared what it was like getting naked on set while filming these scenes.

"[Nude scenes] are embarrassing, but fun," he noted during a press conference for the movie, according to People magazine. "It leads to funny conversations and funny dialogue and great humour and everything like that. It's inevitable, you have to do it because it's what the movie shows, and there are certain times you can cover things up, and there are certain times you don’t and you can’t. So what? I don’t think there's anyone here that has anything to hide."

However, his castmate Emilia disagrees with this assessment.

"Well, I had a few things I tried to hide," she quipped.

In Terminator Genisys Emilia was required to be in action while in the nude. And performing stunts stark naked was a fascinating experience for the thespian.

"Naked in a harness was fun – doing stunts, that was good," she chuckled. "That was interesting."

Fortunately cast and crew all managed to have a laugh while the stars got naked.

Terminator Genisys director Alan Taylor reminisced about one hilarious moment in particular.

"We had a wonderful AD named Phil Patterson who would always get half-naked whenever there was a nude scene," Alan recalled. "She'd wander around looking beautiful and then there was Phil, not looking quite good. A team player."

Terminator Genisys is released in American theatres on July 1.
