Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks Maggie is the "most human zombie film that's ever been made".

The 67-year-old actor has dropped his tough guy front on the big screen for the upcoming horror movie, in which he plays Wade, the father of teenage girl Maggie (Abigail Breslin) who becomes a cannibalistic zombie.

Arnold found the concept a welcome break after shooting fast-paced flicks such as The Expendables 3 and Terminator Genisys.

"This film was unique, as it allowed me to do something different, in terms of the acting. It’s a dramatic piece, and it’s the most human story I’ve ever done. I also think it’s the most human zombie film that’s ever been made," he explained to shockya.com. "The story focuses so much on people, and the dilemma that Wade, who’s this strong father, who thinks he can handle anything, is in. I’ve always played the action hero, but all of a sudden, I can’t overcome this challenge, and I become a vulnerable character. So that’s what initially really appealed to me about this film."

The feature is directed by Henry Hobson, marking his first feature film after helming smaller projects. Despite people being concerned about his abilities, Arnold didn't doubt Henry's "clear vision" and never questioned starring in the flick.

Maggie deals with lots of issues, such as how to cope with those who are ill. Quarantine and getting rid of those infected is the solution in the story, but Arnold's alter ego struggles.

"The character I play couldn’t find a solution to the problem, because he couldn’t find a way to stop the virus and having his daughter die," the actor explained. "His love for her was so big, he couldn’t do the things that were suggested, like give her the shot to end her life, since it would be painful."
