(Cover) - EN Movies - Selena Gomez “failed” at producing an original voice for her Hotel Transylvania character.

The 20-year-old actress lends her voice to supernatural bloodsucker Mavis in the animated family comedy. Hotel Transylvania follows Dracula, portrayed by Adam Sandler, on a mission to protect his teenage daughter Mavis from a boy who falls in love with her.

Selena was initially elated to try out a new voice, but was disappointed to learn that her novel articulation was not desired.

"No, I attempted [a voice] and failed," she told MTV News.

“I tried when I got the script, I was like 'Oh maybe I can do something cool and different.' And I ended up going in, and they were like 'No, we like your voice best.' I was like 'Oh, all right'."

Should she want to pursue roles in animation that require voice alteration, Selena believes that she may need to seek out lessons.

At the moment the singer-and-actress doesn’t think she possesses the skills required to be a cartoon dynamo.

"Well, I don't think I can [do any voices],” she said. “That's the sad part."

Hotel Transylvania will be released this weekend.
