Tori Spelling hopes to “set the record straight” with her new reality show.

The 40-year-old former Beverly Hills, 90210 star is currently experiencing a rough patch with husband Dean McDermott, as he recently admitted to cheating on her and checked himself into rehab earlier this year to deal with “health and personal issues”.

The couple document their marital strife in new programme True Tori, and the actress is happy she gets to air her dirty laundry on TV.

“Our family has been going through an incredibly difficult and trying time, and the story of what I’ve been going through has been told by everyone… except for me,” the mother of four shared on her ediTORIAL blog Monday.

“So, it’s time for me to set the record straight. Which is why I decided to share this with all of you on True Tori, which premieres tomorrow, April 22nd at 10pm on Lifetime [in the US].”

Tori has been in the spotlight since she was a youth.

And the star claims all she wants right now is to have the opportunity to express herself authentically.

“Throughout my life, the tabloids have told every story you could imagine – and they always got it wrong,” she wrote.

“I needed the chance to tell my own story. At the moment, I don’t know if it will have a happy ending. But I need to get my voice back, and this is my way of doing that.”

She went on to thank her fans for their “unconditional love, positivity and support over the last several months”.

In a new promo clip for True Tori, Dean is filmed complaining about the lackluster sex life he shares with his wife.

"We had sex once every two weeks. It wasn't fantastic,” he said.
