Steven Spielberg will reportedly direct Jennifer Lawrence in a highly sought after drama.

Deadline reports film studio Warner Bros is currently in the process of closing a deal for the rights to It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love And War, a memoir written by photojournalist Lynsey Addario. The bestselling book was published last month and ever since its release, major studios have been in a bidding war for movie rights to the title.

Now that Warner Bros has successfully outbid the competition, Steven is attached to direct Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer in the feature adaptation.

It’s What I Do centres on Lynsey’s life as she tours some of the most dangerous parts of the world in order to memorialise events with the pictures she takes. Lynsey was one of the four New York Times journalists who went missing after being detained by the Libyan Army in March 2011. The four members of the press were eventually freed, with the female photographer noting she was repeatedly threatened and groped throughout her detainment.

Lynsey has visited a number of war-torn regions, from Afghanistan to Somalia and the Congo.

The film adaptation of It’s What I Do will be produced by Andrew Lazar, who also worked on American Sniper and Behaving Badly.

Steven’s next directorial effort St James Place starring Tom Hanks and Amy Ryan, will hit US theatres this October.

Jennifer is currently in Boston filming her latest film, Joy, with helmer David O. Russell.
