Hailee Steinfeld will reportedly star alongside Sam Worthington in For the Dogs.

Deadline reports the 16-year-old True Grit actress is locked down for director Phillip Noyce’s forthcoming dramatic thriller.

For the Dogs is based on a novel written by Paul Leyden.

Hailee will portray a teenager who receives help from an assassin, portrayed by Sam, to exact revenge on those who murdered her family. Although Sam’s character “seeks peace and absolution”, the lessons he has bestowed on the young girl initiates violent results.

Anthony Rhulen and Navid McIlhargey will produce for FilmEngine Entertainment alongside Full Clip Productions’ Worthington, John Schwarz and Michael Schwarz as well as author Leyden.

Sierra/Affinity will pitch the feature to international buyers at Cannes this week. CAA and Paradigm have taken over domestic sales.

Hailee has quite a busy couple of years ahead as she will appear in a whopping nine new pictures.

The star’s upcoming films include dramedy Can A Song Save Your Life? and drama Hateship, Loveship, which features Guy Pearce, Kristen Wiig, Nick Nolte and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
