Sir Tom Jones' wife won't allow him to throw lavish parties.

The Sex Bomb singer has been part of the showbiz circuit since he first broke onto the music scene in 1964.

Although known for his Welsh roots, Tom resides in LA and has many famous neighbours who often pop in to say hi.

But wife of nearly sixty years Melinda Trenchard puts her foot down when it comes to holding soirées at their home.

"I don’t have parties at my house. My wife is a very quiet person and she gets very nervous if anybody shows up. Like Robbie Williams showed up the other day and my wife stayed in the bedroom. Even though she knows him," Tom smiled to British newspaper Metro.

"Melinda’s not that way inclined. She’s not a party person. But I go to a lot of other people’s houses."

Tom is currently acting as a mentor on the UK version of TV talent show The Voice.

He's joined by will.i.am, Ricky Wilson and Australian superstar Kylie Minogue. The four judges are tasked with finding the next big talent in music.

Tom, 73, often reflects on his time in the industry and tends to name drop some of his famous pals, which include Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Tina Turner.

"The thing is, it’s true. I’ve been in showbusiness a long time and I’ve been lucky enough to meet some great entertainers in the business, so why not talk about it'" he laughed.

Although keen to show off while on TV, Melinda has also put an end to his boasting at home.

"There’s a lot of things involved [in a happy marriage]. You have to love each other, that’s number one. We’re both Welsh and we have the same sense of humour, [that] is very important. If I go in the house and I’m trying to [show off], my wife says, ‘Excuse me. I know who you are. And you know who I am. So let’s cut all that out,'" Tom previously admitted.
