(Cover) - EN Movies - Transformers: Dark of the Moon is to be released for another run in IMAX theatres.

The Michael Bay-directed action sequel starring Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was released earlier this year.

The blockbuster will now return to IMAX locations for a two-week stint from August 26 through to September 8, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bay, who has helmed all three Transformer pictures, hinted that Paramount was considering showing the digitally re-mastered film, and now sources have confirmed that it will be re-released in 3D.

According to insiders, the film will play in 246 IMAX theatres across North America.

The action film was a success at the worldwide box office, grossing $1.1 billion, including $348.5 million at the domestic box office and $747 billion overseas.

The film was estimated to have cost nearly $200 million.

James Cameron, who directed 3D hit Avatar, convinced Bay that 3D was the right medium for the Transformers film.
