Sofía Vergara’s ex-fiancé would take the "responsibility and obligation" of being a father "very seriously".

Last week it was revealed Nick Loeb, who Sofía split from last May, filed a lawsuit against his ex to prevent embryos they made together in November 2013 being destroyed.

Since then the Modern Family actress' attorney has rubbished claims Sofía wants to get rid of them and shared that she is happy to leave them indefinitely, as she "has no desire to have children with her ex".

However Nick has now released a statement to Us Weekly, detailing his desires to become a father and his determination to bring the embryos to life.

“I have always strongly believed that life begins at fertilisation and that every embryo is a life on the journey towards birth. I created these two female embryos with the purpose of taking them to term and not destruction, because I have always dreamed of being a father,” the businessman outlined.

“I have previously offered to waive any parental or financial responsibilities or obligations on the part of my ex, and to even give her the opportunity to be involved with the child in the future, should she change her mind. I take the responsibility and obligation of being a parent very seriously."

He continues to explain how creating embryos in the "natural way" could lead to men becoming fathers without wanting to, whereas in his situation he feels he has the "corresponding right" to be a dad as he poses "no obligations" on his former girlfriend.

"However life comes to be created, it should have no determination on either the rights of wanting to be or the requirements of having to be a parent," he concluded.

It was recently reported Nick won't be able to use the embryos even if they aren't destroyed, as according to paperwork allegedly signed by both parties it states they would each need to give permission for conception to happen.

However, if both were to pass away, the former couple apparently agreed the embryos would be thawed in that instance.

Sofía has moved on since the split and is now engaged to Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello.
