Sigourney Weaver is shocked by how much her Alien persona has become “part of her DNA”.

The 64-year-old actress first portrayed famous fictional character Ripley in director Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi movie Alien.

She recently lent her voice to video game adaptation Alien: Isolation, and being Ripley again was easier than the star initially imagined.

“I got in the mood and Ripley’s voice came out right away,” Sigourney told Fox News. “I was surprised at how much of a part of my DNA she was and how much of her was there within me.”

Sigourney’s appearance in Alien was her first major role in a blockbuster film.

She acted in a few parts before that, but none of her experience prepared her for working with famed filmmaker Ridley.

“I didn’t know very much in that first film at all,” the actress recalled. “Ridley kept asking me not to look in the camera, and I kept saying ‘But you’re pointing it right at me!’”

Sigourney has starred in four Alien franchise films so far in her career.

And she’d be overjoyed to appear in another instalment of the groundbreaking extraterrestrial series.

“I would love to return to the Alien saga. It was my fault as I didn’t want to do five straight after four,” she said. “Maybe there will be another opportunity for us all together again…perhaps with Ridley'”

Sigourney has another sci-fi franchise in her future, as she is starring in Avatar 2, 3 and 4, which are all being directed by James Cameron.
